Pledge Manager Emails Being Sent
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Jun 01, 2020 at 01:51:17 AM

Okay, the pledge manager is ready to go. I've submitted it for approval and Backerkit came back with a few fixes (like not charging backers twice for shipping).  I'll send out a 'smoke test' momentarily to 5% of you. Be on the lookout for that, and fill it out when you can. If that goes well, then I'll send out an email to the rest of you later this weekend!

If you missed the Kickstarter, you can click the Late Pledge link or go directly to the store, here.

I'm working hard to get the rest of the art to the printer by Monday. I think very worst case it take 90 days for printing, then 30 days for shipping before fulfillment begins. That puts us on track for an early October delivery.

We won!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 25, 2020 at 11:53:22 PM

Thanks to you all, we are getting one kick-#@$* game. Even before the stretch goals, this second edition came packed with two expansions, parts for up to 4 players, engraved dice, deluxe imperial boards, solo rules and components, etc. But add in the Captains and Monuments expansions stretch goals, plus a ton of extra coins, and this was the best bargain on Kickstarter! Mind you, this is all for all of this is the same price that backers paid for just the two-player base game back in 2013! I don't have to tell you, though - you already jumped in.

You can expect an pledge manager invite from Backerkit over the coming days. The slackers took Memorial Day off, so the project won't be approved until sometime later this week. I kid, they're not slackers, as far as I know. Once you get the survey, you'll be able to tell us what items you want in your pledge. You can add extra money to add additional coins, games, or dice.

If you missed the campaign, you can still get the games on the Backerkit store  (but the metal coin sets will only be available to backers, or if you buy the Island Siege game edition with metal coins - the coins need to go to production right away and so we will have only a limited number of extra sets.)

Good night, all.

Captain Names and Never-ending Stretch Goals
almost 4 years ago – Sun, May 24, 2020 at 03:19:00 PM

The last 48 hours in a project is always a nail-biter - how high will it go? Can we hit that last stretch goal? This time we set a "never-ending stretch goal" where more coins get added as the funding total increases. For every $1K that we fund, starting at $23K, we add a 1-gold coin. Each time we pass a $5K boundary, starting at $25K, we instead add a 10-gold coin. This applies to both the game pledge and the add-on pledge, which means it's an increasingly better bargain good idea to add more coin sets to your pledge or to bump up your pledge from cardboard coin level!

Let's see how many coins we unlock before this ends tomorrow!

In the last update we asked you to come up with names for the captains. We narrowed the list and created a survey for you to vote for your favorite names for each! Use the numbered list below when referring to the captains.

Name our Captains!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2020 at 01:25:40 PM

You asked us to give the captains some more substance, and Dan had the idea to let you all name them! As shown in a previous update, there are four captains. Here they are again, for your reference.

While it's not necessary for naming purposes, the captains each have an area of expertise - the weapons expert, the naval tactician, the treacherous leader and the great tactician. We've not yet assigned any captains to an expertise. (Ignore the text on the cards for now; Dan created the categories after these cards were made.)

So, help us name them, and for extra credit assign an expertise! Leave your ideas in the comments area below. (No Boaty McBoatface suggestions, please).

Monuments Expansion Stretch Goal - Part II
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 18, 2020 at 10:24:46 AM

The Monuments stretch goal contains rules and two 2-sided boards. In the last post, I mentioned that one side of the boards could be used as a decorative way of storing the stones in the general supply, in case you're not playing with the Monuments expansion.

If you ARE playing the Monuments expansion , flip the boards over.

Here, you'll see the the same islands, but each has a spot to place a colonist. Below each island is a goal and reward. When a player loses the indicated number of colonists in an attack, they can pay the number of stones shown to build a monument for the lost. They place one of the lost colonists on the monument spot on the island, instead of placing it on the imperial board with the rest of the colonists. They also take the number of gold shown. There is an island for each of the stone colors - gray, white and black, and also a 4th island where the player can pay with stones of any color.

Note that monuments remain for the rest of the game, so this is a great way for players to keep colonists off their imperial board for good!
